The Freight Transport Association support third runway at Heathrow

Monday 25th June saw parliament debating and voting for a third runway at London Heathrow airport. Our task was to land broadcast interviews for our client, the Freight Transport Association, who were very much in support of a new runway, and position them as an authoritative voice on national and international transport issues. As a heavy political news story, the challenge for us was to land interviews which provided discussion from a business perspective.

Our team spoke to key media contacts in the days leading up for the vote, during which time national broadcasters were lining up their guests for Monday morning. We also called media on the day of the vote to maximise on reactive coverage.

The Deputy CEO of the FTA was stationed in Heathrow on the morning of the vote whilst the Head of Policy from the FTA was in central London. Coverage secured with the Deputy CEO included live interviews on the BBC News Channel and Sky News, and also a pre-recorded interview that went out on Good Morning Britain's news bulletin. Further live interviews with our other spokesperson included the Victoria Derbyshire programme, Jazz FM's Business Breakfast, BBC Radio Berkshire and BBC London. Total potential reach was over 10,204,000.
