We worked with the RICS to land broadcast coverage around their Cities for our Futureglobal competition they ran in association with UNESCO and the Association of Commonwealth Universities at the end of 2018.

The winner was Earl Patrick Forlales, a 23 year old from Manila who won the £50,000 prize for his idea for environmentally-friendly, low-cost housing to solve the problem of a growing slum population in Manila. His idea was called CUBO - a new way of creating affordable, sustainable, modular co-housing for the worker population, built using cheap, locally-sourced bamboo. The idea was specifically designed to house these workers, who will in turn build homes for other people.

We secured interviews with Earl, the president of the RICS and the Chair of the UK National Commission for UNESCO on the BBC World Service and BBC World TV's 'Impact' programme. The interviews highlighted RICS's active involvement in global housing issues and also raised awareness of the annual, global competition for young people.
